Latin XL is our flagship accelerated program designed to help learners of all ages master Latin quickly. We combine modern strategies like comprehensible input with cultural immersion to make Latin engaging, efficient, and relevant.

Latin XL serves middle schoolers, high schoolers, adults, and lifelong learners. Whether you’re new to Latin or revisiting it, our courses adapt to your level and goals.

Latin strengthens language skills, improves thinking, and unlocks the foundational texts of Western culture. It boosts academic performance, supports college admissions, and deepens cultural understanding.

You’ll get access to study guides, flashcards, recorded class sessions, cultural content, and language partner opportunities to practice your Latin outside of class.

Each Latin XL course is designed to move students along the ACTFL proficiency scale:

• Beginner focuses on foundational vocabulary and grammar. Students begin forming basic Latin sentences, asking and answering simple questions, and working toward Novice High to Intermediate Low proficiency.
   
• Intermediate builds on that base with longer readings and more complex sentence structures. Students gain confidence in interpreting connected ideas and expressing themselves in familiar contexts—aligning with Intermediate Mid to High proficiency.
   
• Advanced challenges students with authentic Latin texts, cultural nuance, and sustained expression. This level helps students reach Advanced Low proficiency, where they can understand and discuss paragraph-length content and more abstract ideas.

Each course builds on the last, using interactive methods and comprehensible input to accelerate progress toward real Latin fluency.

Our standard Latin XL courses run for 12 weeks, with two 1-hour live Zoom sessions per week—a total of 24 hours of instruction per level.

We also offer accelerated summer sessions lasting 6 weeks, with the same twice-per-week format for a total of 12 hours per course.

Many students progress from novice to intermediate over two semesters (Fall and Spring), with continued advancement in future sessions.

Yes, we offer a placement survey. However, starting at the Beginner level helps you adapt to our unique teaching style and ensures you benefit fully from the program’s design.

We assess progress through live participation, story-based exercises, and personalized feedback—no formal tests. You’ll receive a certificate upon completion.

Yes. Each course includes a certificate of completion recognizing your growth and communicative skills in Latin.

All sessions are recorded and posted to the LMS. You can catch up anytime, and we provide notes and materials to reinforce the missed lesson.

You’ll need a device with internet access, Zoom, a modern browser (we recommend Chrome), and headphones with a mic for clear audio during class.

After enrollment, you’ll receive login credentials by email. Use them to access your dashboard, course materials, announcements, and class recordings. Help links are included inside the platform.
